The process (for certification) has been incredibly rewarding and inspiring. I was able to connect with a group of fellow paediatric nurses to review relevant topics in paediatrics and share knowledge in different areas of expertise. Successfully passing the exam is very beneficial both personally and professionally. Personally, it solidifies my confidence that I am a well-rounded paediatric nurse and professionally it demonstrates an enhanced credibility and commitment to lifelong learning. Since obtaining my certification, I have been able to act as a mentor to other nurses on my unit who are interested in certifying and sharing knowledge with my colleagues. I am grateful for the opportunity to have written the exam. It gave me the opportunity to connect with other paediatric nurses, share expertise with my colleagues, act as a mentor to other nurses and demonstrate enhanced credibility to my employer.
